Lake Washington Ship Canal & the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks A US Army Corps of Engineer's site giving a history of the locks, events, how to navigate the locks, status of the two locks, i.e. closures, and other general information. Once on the page click on "Water Management" to check the current level of Lake Washington and the Ship Canal system, measured at the locks. The heights varies from19.2 feet to 22.0 feet, and the site gives almost real-time levels. Great for calculating how much higher (or lower) the lake is going to rise (or fall) at any time of year.

Northwest Yachting Northwest Yachting is the largest boating publication—for both powerboaters and sailors—in the Pacific Northwest. Published monthly, Northwest Yachting is distributed free to the yachting community through marinas, chandlers, yacht dealers and brokers, waterfront restaurants and other locations boaters frequent throughout the Northwest, including Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Alaska, British Columbia and California.

USCG Local Notice to Mariners (LNMs), a weekly publication covering the waters of Oregon and Washington. A must for all boaters to check out for up to date safety and navigational concerns.

Weather: Regional Marine Forecast Current forecast for the coastal and inland waters of Western Washington provided by the National Weather Service (National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration). A must-check site before leaving the dock.

Women Aboard The Northwest chapter of an organization dedicated to empowering women boaters. Women Aboard claims to be one of the fastest growing movements in the boating world and the only organization of its kind in the marine environment with networking as its fundamental purpose. Web site a little dated, yet gives contacts and a sense of the group. Well worth exploring.
